Marleen Vaes, born on January 27th, 1957, is married and mother of three daughters and one granddaughter. She graduated from KULeuven in 1981 and starrted as a laywer at the Bar of Leuven.
Marleen is an Accredited Mediator since 1999 and co-founded Forum Bemiddeling
Leuven in 2006.
Since 2009 she's been teaching mediation at the training for interns of the Bar of Leuven.
Since 2012 Marleen is part of the European network of Cross Border Family
Mediators with a focus on mediation in parental child abduction cases.
Since march 2020, she has also been educated and accredited as collaborative lawyer.
She regularly takes courses, trainings and workshops to keep up to date with the most relevant developments in national and international legislation as well as in the areas of justice, mediation
techniques, collaborative negotiation techniques, etc.
Marleen regularly gives lectures and workshops on mediation and cross border mediation.
As from 1 February 2022, Marleen will no longer be active as a lawyer at the Bar of Leuven.
She remains active as a family mediator and cross border family mediator.
